Daily Challenge — 3 October 2026
One General Studies, one Chhattisgarh GK and one Aptitude question. Attempt all three before opening the explanations.
Chemistry in Everyday Life
Chhattisgarh is the only state in India that produces concentrates of which of the following metals?
According to the Indian Bureau of Mines, Chhattisgarh is the sole producer of tin concentrates in India. The ore is cassiterite (SnO₂), mined in Dantewada and Sukma districts, and a tin smelter operates at Jagdalpur.
Festivals, Fairs and Special Traditions
Consider the following statements:
- Bastar Dussehra is dedicated to Goddess Danteshwari.
- Its rituals extend over about 75 days, beginning on Hariyali (Shravan) Amavasya.
- Burning of Ravana’s effigy is its central ritual.
Which of the statements given above are correct?
Statements 1 and 2 are correct. Bastar Dussehra centres on Maa Danteshwari and local deities, with rituals such as Kachhin Gadi and the closing Muria Darbar — it is not about Rama’s victory over Ravana, so there is no effigy burning at its core. That contrast is exactly what statement 3 tests.
Basic Numeracy
A can complete a piece of work in 12 days and B can complete it in 18 days. Working together, in how many days will they complete it?
One day’s combined work = \( \frac{1}{12} + \frac{1}{18} = \frac{3 + 2}{36} = \frac{5}{36} \). Time = \( \frac{36}{5} = 7.2 \) days. 15 days (the average of 12 and 18) is the trap — working together must take less time than the faster worker alone, so any answer of 12 days or more is impossible.
