Daily Challenge — 4 October 2026
One General Studies, one Chhattisgarh GK and one Aptitude question. Attempt all three before opening the explanations.
Public Finance, Budget and Taxation
Consider the following statements:
- The Goods and Services Tax (GST) came into force on 1 April 2017.
- The GST Council is a constitutional body under Article 279A.
- GST was introduced through the 101st Constitutional Amendment Act.
Which of the statements given above are correct?
GST came into force on 1 July 2017, not 1 April, so statement 1 is wrong. The 101st Amendment Act, 2016 introduced GST and inserted Article 279A, under which the President constitutes the GST Council — so statements 2 and 3 are correct.
Ancient Chhattisgarh: Prehistory to the Guptas
Consider the following statements:
- The Kirari inscription of Chhattisgarh is engraved on a wooden pillar.
- The Gunji rock inscription records a gift of 1,000 cows to Brahmanas by a minister.
Which of the statements given above is/are correct?
Both are correct. The Kirari record, found in the Hirabandh tank in 1921, is a rare Brahmi inscription on a wooden pillar (about 2nd century CE). The Gunji rock inscription near Sakti records that the minister (amatya) Vasishthiputra Bodhadatta gave 1,000 cows to Brahmanas in the reign of King Kumaravaradatta.
Hindi Language (Class X level)
Consider the following statements:
- ‘अनल’ शब्द ‘अग्नि’ का पर्यायवाची है।
- ‘आयात’ का विलोम ‘निर्यात’ है।
- ‘नीरज’ का अर्थ ‘बादल’ है।
Which of the statements given above is/are correct?
Statement 1 is correct: अनल means fire (do not confuse with अनिल, wind). Statement 2 is a standard antonym pair. Statement 3 is wrong: नीरज (नीर + ज, born of water) means lotus; the cloud is नीरद (नीर + द, giver of water).
