Week 1 of Mission CGPSC 2027 · First Principles — Prelims Phase begins: the Constitution's origins and the state's own birth certificate — plus the numeracy every CSAT paper leans on. See the full plan.
Constitutional Development (1773–1950)
Under the Government of India Act, 1935, the residuary powers of legislation were vested in the:
The 1935 Act divided powers into a Federal List (59 items), a Provincial List (54) and a Concurrent List (36), and gave residuary powers to the Governor-General (Viceroy). The Constitution of 1950 changed this: residuary powers now lie with the Union Parliament under Article 248.
Physical Geography: Location, Relief, Rivers and Climate
Gaurlata, the highest peak of Chhattisgarh, is located on which of the following?
Gaurlata (about 1,225 m) lies on the Samri pat in the north of Balrampur district, near the Jharkhand border. Nandiraj on the Bailadila range (about 1,210 m) is the second-highest point, and Badargarh (about 1,176 m) is the high point of the Maikal range in Kabirdham.
Basic Numeracy
A shopkeeper marks an article 25% above its cost price and then allows a discount of 10% on the marked price. What is his profit percentage?
Let CP = 100. Marked price = 125; after a 10% discount, SP = \( 125 \times 0.9 = 112.5 \). Profit = 12.5, i.e. 12.5%. The trap answer 15% comes from simply subtracting 10 from 25, which ignores that the discount is taken on the larger marked price.
