Daily Challenge — 12 October 2026
Week 2 of Mission CGPSC 2027 · Rights & Roots — Fundamental Rights and DPSP for India; prehistory and the early dynasties of Dakshin Kosala for Chhattisgarh. See the full plan.
Directive Principles and Fundamental Duties
In which case did the Supreme Court hold that harmony and balance between Fundamental Rights and Directive Principles is an essential feature of the basic structure of the Constitution?
In Minerva Mills (1980) the Court struck down the 42nd Amendment’s extension of Article 31C to all Directive Principles, holding that giving Part IV absolute primacy over Part III would upset the balance that is part of the basic structure. Champakam (1951) had placed DPSP below Fundamental Rights, Golaknath (1967) barred amending Fundamental Rights, and Kesavananda (1973) laid down the basic structure doctrine itself.
Regional Dynasties: Rajarshitulya, Nala, Sharabhpuriya, Pandu and Somvanshi
Mahashivagupta Balarjuna, under whom Sirpur (Shripur) flourished, belonged to which dynasty?
Mahashivagupta Balarjuna was a king of the Panduvanshi (Somvanshi) dynasty of Dakshina Kosala, with Sirpur as capital; Sirpur’s Buddhist viharas and the Laxman Temple belong to this period. The Nala dynasty ruled in the Bastar region, the Sharabhpuriyas preceded the Panduvanshis, and the Kalachuris came much later.
Logical Reasoning and Analytical Ability
Find the next number in the series: 2, 6, 12, 20, 30, ?
The terms are \( 1\times2, 2\times3, 3\times4, 4\times5, 5\times6 \), so the next is \( 6 \times 7 = 42 \). Equivalently, the differences 4, 6, 8, 10 increase by 2, so the next difference is 12 and \( 30 + 12 = 42 \).
